This road trip to South Australia – which is a state in the southern central part of the country – was such a welcomed adventure! Of course it started a bit tense, as me and my husband were still holding some of the personal tensions related to work, etc, plus spending time 24/24 hours with each other, plus still figuring out each others ‘duties’, well you understand. But in the end it turned out great and on our way back we were both singing along to our custom made playlist 🙂
Here’s the initial itinerary, which we obviously needed to change along the way, as some of the places we thought would be nice to visit were not as exciting. There were others though of which we didn’t even know about that popped out of nowhere and were really worth the extra travel. In the end I think we ended up driving around 3000 km, which if I think about it now, it sounds ridiculously long.
The plan was to drive along the very beautiful Great Ocean Road until evening, where we had booked a room in Warrnambool. But then we realised that this is what we always did, so we decided to take the highway, arrive there early afternoon and then explore the town by bikes. This turned out to be a great idea, as the place is quite beautiful, bike friendly, plus has amazing ocean views and nice beaches. Also, there are lots of young people around, so we ended up spending the evening at a local bar with a really nice atmosphere. Here are some pics of the place.
And this was pretty much Day 1. More to come!
